Air Liquide Japan partners with Pure Salmon Japan to secure sustainable supply for nation's largest aquaculture facility

Air Liquide Japan has announced a long-term strategic partnership to supply industrial gases to Pure Salmon Japan K.K.’s landmark facility in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture—the nation’s largest land-based aquaculture site. By deploying global process technologies tailored for Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS), Air Liquide solidifies its structural foundation in Japan’s advanced aquaculture sector while accelerating the transition toward carbon-efficient, sustainable domestic food production.

Under this agreement, Air Liquide Japan will design, build, and operate a fully integrated gas infrastructure delivering liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. This turnkey system ensures an efficient, continuous gas supply to specialized ozone generators critical for automated water quality and purification management.

To guarantee optimal fish growth and development rates, the facility integrates high-precision flow control systems with Air Liquide’s proprietary dual-line backup mixing technology. Engineered for maximum uptime from the design phase through ongoing daily operations, this localized technical support secures long-term reliability for complex, high-density biological production.

Air Liquide will deliver world-class gas design engineering for large-scale aquaculture facilities by leveraging the advanced capabilities of ALTEC GIL (Air Liquide Technology Center Gas Injection in Liquid). Operational security is further enhanced by on-site smart operations and remote monitoring systems. These automated digital technologies link the site directly to a 24-hour support center capable of triggering immediate emergency backup procedures, ensuring resilient and secure operations.

By stabilizing these highly complex processes, the partnership delivers the operational efficiencies required to secure resilient, sustainable domestic food supply chains in Japan, combining high performance with clear societal and ecological benefits.
